Teaching from the Heart: Yoga Teacher Training at Asheville Yoga Center
“What lies behind you, and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Yoga Teacher Training in Asheville
Yoga practitioners come to Asheville from all walks of life. This city is a beautiful melting pot of locals with deep Appalachian roots and new arrivals who were called here by the mountains. Most people find themselves in need of healing, something this area has a long history of providing. At Asheville Yoga Center, we’ve been guiding students through their healing path for over 25 years, and it’s been our greatest honor to touch so many lives through the practice of yoga and our heart-centered yoga teacher training.
A Personal Approach to Teacher Training
So, what is yoga teacher training? To answer that question, we’ll review what we provide, but the true answer lies within each student. Our yoga teacher training, or YTT as we call it, is deeply personal. It’s designed to be that way. It’s meant to usher students into the realm of their deepest knowing and their strongest sense of belonging. Not all yoga teacher trainings are like this. We’re fortunate to have such an incredible community of heart-centered educators sharing their experience with those who’ve been called to explore their own gifts through yoga. We’re grateful to have become a hub for yoga education in the Southeast thanks to the awe-inspiring students who have chosen to collaborate with us on their journey. Each group that attends our trainings has a unique imprint; no two groups have ever truly been alike. No matter how long we’ve been doing this, or how many students we’ve seen, YTT remains deeply personal to us as well.
Our Training Options
We offer two training options, which include a 200-hour program and a 300-hour program. Both options have the same goal: to help students embark on a heart-centered transformational yoga journey and to build upon their unique gifts and teaching path.
The 200-Hour Program
Our 200-hour program is a beautiful place to begin and includes the option for a 4-week immersion or an 8-weekend training. Topics include pranayama, mythology, Ayurveda, anatomy, asana, bhakti, and more. It’s the perfect fit for those who want to inspire others, strengthen their knowledge, and empower themselves to become the highest version of themselves. It’s also a great fit for practitioners who have already completed a 200-hour training elsewhere but want to explore more of the heart-centered aspects of teaching yoga within a supportive and welcoming community.
The 300-Hour Program
Our 300-hour program is designed to help students evolve as practitioners and teachers. This is great for those who have completed a 200-hour program and want to dive deeper into yoga and the art and craft of teaching. We’ll focus on more specialized areas of study, such as subtle body, neuroscience, restorative yoga, philosophy, and trauma-informed teaching. We offer several workshops throughout the month, led by passionate educators and covering a wide range of topics. You can design your own path by choosing from weeklong immersions, weekend workshops, studio retreats, or one-day events. In addition, we host a free community satsang every month, which gives our 300-hour program students the opportunity to learn about a specialized topic, ask questions, and share their experiences with core teachers in the program.
Connect with Our YTT Ambassador
If you’re feeling called to begin your journey teaching from the heart, or if you’re ready to deepen your yoga practice, we’d love to connect with you. Our YTT ambassador, Grace, has been through both programs and continues to share her knowledge and skills through events and classes at Asheville Yoga Center. She’s been guiding students for many years and would be happy to answer any questions you may have to see if our program is the right fit for you. Connect with Grace
