Ranking the form of Aston Villa men in UEFA Nations League during the September international break

Aston Villa have a number of players getting a call-up for their national team during the current international break. Some have to play for the friendly games while some others feature in more decisive game, the UEFA Nations League.

Here are the ranking of their form in the first two games for September fixtures as all teams have completed their two games. The remaining two matches for each of them will be held in October.

Victor Lindelof (Sweden)

The Sweden skipper featured in both games when his nation thumped Romania and crushed Poland. Lindelof even provided one assist in the latter game for the opener.

Based on the data in FotMob, the defender made 153 passes, 10 accurate long balls, created one chance, which was also a big chance. He also won the duels four times, made 187 touches, including three in the final third.

The former Manchester United and Benfica man made 15 defensive contributions too. It included 12 clearances, two interceptions and one blocking shots. Sweden is currently leading the table in UEFA Nations League group 4.

Matty Cash (Poland)

The 29-year old wing back was in form in two games while Poland was held in a goalless draw while hosting Bosnia Herzegovina but lost 3-1 to Lindelof’s Sweden.

Based on the data in FotMob, Cash produced eight shots with two of them were on target. He also made 41 passes, five accurate long balls, one crossing and created three chances. Unfortunately, his duel was weak as he only won five plus one aerial duel.

The right back made 91 touches with six of them in the opposition box. However, he only made eight defensive contributions, four tackles, one interception and three clearances. The former Nottingham Forest man could not block Yasin Ayari’s shot which had become Sweden’s second goal.

Johan Manzambi (Switzerland)

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder featured in both games against North Macedonia and Scotland. However, he did not have his best form as he failed to make any goal contribution despite the fact that his nation clinched 3-0 win in both games.

Based on the stats in FotMob, he created six shots, two of them were on target. He created two big chances, made 44 successful passes, one long ball, three successful dribbles, and 86 touches, with six of which were in the final third. He also won the duel 10 times but only made one defensive contribution, one tackle.

John McGinn (Scotland)

The skipper also played in both games but Scotland remained winless and goalless while taking on Slovenia and Switzerland.

McGinn only made 29 successful passes, two shots, four accurate long balls, two successful crosses and also created two chances. He also made 71 touches, three successful dribbles and five recoveries. Sadly, the Tartan Army has yet been entirely different under Sebastian Pocagnoli.

Matteo Ruggeri (Italy)

The left back finally made his international debut against Turkey. Ruggeri played for 90 minutes when Gli Azzurri trashed Turkey 4-1.

He made 37 passes, one accurate long balls, created one chance and one successful crosses. He also won the duel four times, made 63 touches and 12 defensive contributions, which includes three tackles, three interceptions and five clearances.
