Aston Villa plan to offer their Dutch versatile midfielder a contract extension despite getting offers from their rivals.
Aston Villa do not seem to be keen on losing more players. Having offloaded 14 names generating £ 294 million, Villa finally calls the end for more exit. Leon Bailey, who has been expected to leave this summer, becomes the last one to leave Villa Park.
Previously, the Jamaican international was not the only one who could be moving out after Emiliano Martinez’s switch to Chelsea. Tammy Abraham and Lamare Bogarde were tipped to switch sides too. The former was even already offered to various clubs the whole summer in discreet and even Villa have reached agreement to loan him to Ipswich. Yet, he chooses to stay and prepares to fight for his spot in the team.
According to the latest report from transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, through his X official account, Bogarde’s fate seems to be clearer at the moment.

Lamare Bogarde is one of the progressive young talent in Villa’s current squad. He rose to prominence fairly quickly from U18 side in 2020 after joining from Feyenoord youth side. The Dutchman was then promoted to U21 team and then the first team in the 2024/25 season.
In between those years, he was loaned out to Bristol Rovers. During his spell in League One, he featured 36 games in one and a half season and contributed three assists.
Due to his versatility, Bogarde has been utilized as a squad player since 2024/25 campaign. He can be deployed as right back and defensive midfielder beside his natural position as a defender. The 22-year old has made 63 appearances under Unai Emery.
Despite having made no direct contribution to the goals yet, he has been considered valuable for the team, especially during the crucial stage with congested fixtures ahead of the second half of the season.
No wonder that Emery personally pushes Villa to extend his contract and rejected offers from Brighton, Ipswich and Sunderland. His current one ends in 2028.
There is also another advantage for keeping him in the squad beside optimizing his role in the squad rotation. The defensive midfielder who left Feyenoord in 2020 can be registered as a homegrown player.
Based on the squad regulation, a player who has been trained for three years before turning 21 years old, can be put into the homegrown category. Bogarde signed for Villa when he was still 16 years old. It is truly a strategic advantage for The Clarets and Blue during the squad registration for any continental competition.
When it comes the time to sell him, Villa could also consider his sale as the profit. They could also receive some fund from FIFA solidarity payments because of Villa’s contribution in developing the players who also attract Sevilla and Ajax Amsterdam before turning 21.
