Ruoning Yin defends Shanghai title, earns 7th LPGA win

Ruoning Yin is on a roll. The 23-year-old won the Buick LPGA Shanghai on Sunday, successfully defending her title and earning her second consecutive LPGA Tour victory after winning the FM Championship in her previous start.

Playing in front of a home crowd, Yin bounced back from a two-over-par second round by playing her final 36 holes nine under. She closed with five birdies and one bogey Sunday, making two birdies in her final three holes to secure her seventh LPGA Tour win.

Yin’s ball-striking proved to be a difference-maker throughout the week. She led the field in greens in regulation, hitting 55 of 72, and went a perfect 14-for-14 on fairways in Sunday’s final round.

“This course you have to play really, really patient, and there is not many birdie chances,” Yin said after the win.

The victory makes Yin just the second player to win the Buick LPGA Shanghai twice, joining Danielle Kang, who claimed back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Yin also remains the only player from the People’s Republic of China to win the event.

It’s another milestone in what has been a standout 2026 season. Yin has made 16 cuts in 18 starts, recording two victories and six additional top-10 finishes. She has surpassed $3 million in official season earnings and moved to No. 5 in the Race to the CME Globe.

With three tournaments remaining, Yin hopes her latest victory will provide a boost heading into the final stretch of the season.

“This year definitely is a better one than last year for sure, but I think I still have three more tournaments left,” Yin said, “I hope this one can boost some confidence for me and then go into next one.”
