Aston Villa are set to return to the Premier League this weekend at home to welcome Brentford.

The Premier League is back this weekend after the lengthy international break, Aston Villa are playing host Brentford on Saturday afternoon. The Bees are currently sitting fourth while Villa are on the 16th in the standings.

The Bees are one of the most unexpected dark horses in the Premier League, and Villa must be careful with them, despite playing at their own home turf. Villa have all 10 players returning to the squad after three-week playing for their nations but there is a concern of fitness issues in some of their players. Such could prevent them from picking up another three points at home.

Matty Cash was reportedly injured after his last outing with Poland against Bosnia Herzegovina. Fortunately, he only suffered a minor one, a dead leg. Nevertheless, Unai Emery could not risk him playing as a starter, and neither would he to some of the players who just come back from international duty.

Emery could probably give the chance to the players who have been staying and working during the international break as they would have Champions League this midweek. So, rotating the squad might be more necessary than expected.

The likes of Brian Madjo and probably Leon Goretzka too could hit the pitch here in the Brentford clash, while Pau Torres and Alysson Edward might be playing as a starter.

The head-to-head record shows how Keith Andrews’ men can be a nightmare. Villa only won twice, shared spoils once but lost in the last three games. It would be interesting to see if The Lions could end this dismal trend.
