Everton are continuing to monitor Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners ahead of January, with his reduced role in Turin potentially opening a route out. The Netherlands international was linked with the Toffees during the summer.
CaughtOffside attributes the report to Football Insider, noting that Everton have maintained their interest despite adding to their midfield options in recent months. There is no indication of a bid or agreement, and Manchester United have also been linked with the 28-year-old.
Koopmeiners joined Juventus from Atalanta in 2024, but has struggled to reproduce consistently the form that made him one of Serie A’s most sought-after midfielders. CaughtOffside reports that he has played only 131 minutes in Serie A this season and is understood to be receptive to leaving Turin.
That limited involvement helps explain why a January departure is being considered, though Everton would have to weigh the opportunity against their existing options. James Garner, Harrison Armstrong and Hayden Hackney have made encouraging starts to the campaign, while Christian Norgaard is expected to return from injury.
Midfield is therefore not an immediate priority for David Moyes’s side. Even so, Koopmeiners’ experience and versatility could make him an attractive addition if the terms suit Everton and he can rediscover the attacking influence he showed at Atalanta.
Juventus invested around £46 million in Koopmeiners, according to CaughtOffside. The report says the Bianconeri are prepared to consider either a permanent transfer or a loan agreement in January, giving any interested club more than one possible route to a deal.
That reported flexibility does not mean a move would be straightforward. The fee or loan terms Juventus demand will be central to Everton’s decision, particularly given that the position is not currently their most pressing concern.
Everton’s continued monitoring keeps the possibility of a January move alive, but the report describes interest rather than an advanced negotiation. Koopmeiners could offer quality and versatility if he becomes available on acceptable terms; whether the Toffees act will depend on the deal Juventus are willing to make.
