Aston Villa youngster who has stolen the show since making his debut with the first team could break several records this season.
Aston Villa young star who has been on the headline recently, Brian Madjo, is officially ready to make his debut with Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend. The 17-year old forward already opened his account for Villa after notching one in the UEFA Super Cup against PSG in August.
Unfortunately, he suffered an injury afterwards which delayed his return to the pitch, including for making the Premier League and Champions League debut this season. During the international break, the young English-born striker who briefly already played for Luxembourg in their friendly matches, already hit the pitch in the game against Sevilla for the Antonio Puerta trophy.
Considering his age and his talent, Madjo can potentially break several records this season. He already did one as the youngest goalscorer in UEFA Super Cup history beating Patrick Kluivert’s in 1995. Here are some other records he could break in this campaign.
The former Metz frontman might not always get a nod in the starting XI. Nicolas Jackson and Tammy Abraham could be picked ahead of him. However, Madjo’s promising display in the pre-season with four goals plus one goal in the UEFA Super Cup could hand him a chance to make the difference as a substitute. He could certainly have a chance to break the current record set by Adam Le Fondre in the 2012/13 season. He notched eight goals from the bench for Reading FC.
This is even the most plausible one Madjo could break. He would not turn 18 till January 2027, so netting his first goal prior to the New Year is very likely. The current record holder was ex-Villa star Gareth Barry. He did it in the 1998/99 season against Nottingham Forest when he was still 18 years 60 days old.
Madjo has all the potential to be a prolific goalscorer. Thus, scoring a hattrick is something doable for him, should he be more clinical in his finish. He could be aiming to break Michael Owen’s record which has stood since February 1998. At that time, the ex-England’s boy wonder netted three times for The Reds against Sheffield Wednesday.
The 17-year-old forward could also break the most goals by teenagers in English top flight. The current record holder was El Junior Kroupi who bagged 13 goals for Bournemouth last season while he was still 19 years old. It is quite challenging but Madjo still has the opportunity to do so.
This is quite a tricky one due to his injury but still possible. Madjo still has two Champions League games, versus Fenerbahce and Viking Stavanger, to break Jude Bellingham’s record when he became the youngest English player to score in UCL. The current Real Madrid man did it when he was still playing for Dortmund at the age of 17 years 290 days old.
