Aston Villa could be joining the race to sign the former Real Madrid man who shines with his current side.
Aston Villa’s attacking side has been going through big changes with the departure of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers. They are now embracing and utilising the potentials from Nicolas Jackson, Johan Manzambi and Ibrahim Mbaye plus Brian Madjo to be integrated in Unai Emery’s attacking setup. John McGinn, Emi Buendia are helping the adaptation process while Alysson Edward could add more variation in their offence.
However, they appear to be still very keen on adding up their frontman in the future. According to the report in 442, Aston Villa are eyeing for the new profile who previously played for Real Madrid, Gonzalo Garcia.
“(Aston) Villa also has Garcia on their radar and particularly values his tactical flexibility, as he can play in various systems.”
Gonzalo Garcia just moved to Fulham last summer with the contract till 2031. Real Madrid has a buy-back clause and has a 30 % share clause for his future transfer.
Despite only scoring two goals so far in seven games with The Cottagers, the interest to sign him remains high. Aston Villa would be reportedly in a tussle with Arsenal in a race to secure his move. The Gunners in fact, have more urgency to a new striker following Viktor Gyokeres’ below par form lately. They could be chasing Garcia’s service in the winter transfer window.
Considering his current contract, the price tag for the product of Real Madrid academy might reach £ 60 million. It might be too high for The Lions who have spent quite a lot this summer.
The 22-year-old frontman might be appealing to sign due to his versatility upfront. He can be a number 9, attacking midfielder and winger on both flanks. His style of play is widely comparable to Real Madrid’s top goalscorer in the mid 1990s to 2000s, Raul Gonzales Blanco, who was also his coach in Real Madrid youth side.
Garcia has been prolific too in Los Blancos, with 13 goals and five assists, mainly from last season. With such potential, it is understandable if Villa would be keen on signing him. Yet, they might be waiting until next summer to secure his move, provided Arsenal would not be snatching him first.
Villa still have Nicolas Jackson, Brian Madjo, Tammy Abraham and Alysson Edward plus Ibrahim Mbaye who mainly operate on the flanks. The key would probably depend on Abraham’s future. If the Clarets and Blue can have potential suitors for the former AS Roma, AC Milan and Chelsea man this January, they could be fighting for his service sooner.
Abraham has yet been able to show his consistent form, which is expected to compete at the top level. Emery was even ready to loan him to Ipswich Town last summer but he refused and opted to fight for his place instead.
