Moise Kean is a fitness concern for Italy before Friday’s Nations League meeting with France in Paris, with Roberto Mancini saying the forward missed the win over Türkiye because of physical problems.
Football Italia reported Mancini has not confirmed whether Kean will be available at the Stade de France. The coach said Italy would assess him before deciding if he could feature, so his absence against France is not yet established.
Kean did not play in Italy’s 4-1 victory over Türkiye on Monday 28 September. Mancini attributed that decision to fitness issues, but gave no specific diagnosis or expected recovery date.
The status reported by the Italy coach is therefore a concern rather than a confirmed withdrawal. No starting XI was named in the report, and Italy’s considerable rotation between the 2-0 defeat to Belgium and the win over Türkiye leaves the selection picture open.
| Player | Reported status | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Moise Kean | In doubt | Missed the Türkiye match with fitness problems; availability for France remains to be assessed. |
Italy travel to face a France side that, according to Football Italia’s account, had beaten Türkiye and Belgium 1-0. France are further along in their development, Mancini indicated, but he intends his side to approach the match positively rather than simply defend.
The fixture is scheduled for Friday 2 October at the Stade de France, with kick-off listed at 19:45 UK time (20:45 CEST). Mancini described the contest as useful for both teams as they continue to find their shape, while also acknowledging the quality of France’s attacking options.
For Italy, Kean’s fitness is the immediate selection question. Mancini’s comments offer no guarantee that the forward will be ready, but they stop short of ruling him out; his availability should become clearer as the team completes its preparations in Paris.
