Aston Villa are looking for more experts from South America to snatch more talents to support their new transfer strategy.
The football transfer today is getting more and more concerning as the transfer fee keeps inflating every season. Yet, at the same time, more and more financial regulations have been introduced by the football governing body for the sake of sustainability.
Unfortunately, there is still a loophole in them and how some elite clubs can still manage to enjoy the advantage or benefits and still be able to spend sprees in the transfer business.
In order to stay at the top level, the team without big financial muscles must find a way to snatch top players with low prices. Aston Villa seem to be seeking them directly from the source, South America. They only need to expand their team of experts to secure the proper talents ahead of their rivals.
Now, they are looking for those figures as reported in Birmingham mail.
“Aston Villa are searching for a South American first-team talent scout to help the club continue competing at “world-class levels”.”
To fill in the position, the candidates must reside in South America or be willing to relocate there. They have to be fluent in Spanish and English.
This position is a fixed term role with a two-year contract until June 2028. Aston Villa are offering attractive remuneration packages based on the candidate’s experience.
Here are the details of the vacancy.
“An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced scout to join our Men’s First Team Scouting Team. This role will be based in South America, helping to identify and recommend talent capable of contributing to success at the highest level of the game.
“As a key member of our Men’s First Team Scouting Team, you will play a leading role in identifying, assessing and recommending talent across South and Central America, including key markets in South America as well as MLS and Liga MX.
“Combining live and video scouting, you will produce detailed player evaluations, maintain position-specific shortlists and contribute to evidence-based recruitment decisions for both First Team and Emerging Talent targets.
“Working closely with recruitment, data and scouting team, you will support the Club’s wider recruitment strategy through player identification, assessment and recommendation, presenting findings to senior stakeholders and contributing throughout the scouting process.
“You will also leverage your professional network to gather market intelligence, conduct character checks and build relationships with player representatives, while setting high standards through the quality of your analysis and scouting output.
“You will be available to travel to live games across South America as well as be available to travel to Birmingham on a regular basis (approximately three times a year) in order to participate in department meetings.”
The reason why The Clarets and Blue turn to South America instead of their local talents or Europe is not entirely confirmed. Yet, it might be something to do with the style of play and the economy.
The youngsters in South America naturally play with ball possession more, relying on control and creativity. The raw talents there are also more technical than physical, which suits Unai Emery’s team system. They just need to mould and improve their physical fitness and discipline.
Snatching raw talents directly from their academy is certainly more inexpensive than signing the ones already promoted to the first team. The youngsters there are often already included to the first team earlier and quicker due to the demand.
Thus, having a team who can spot on the untapped raw talents before everyone else would certainly give them an advantage. Nevertheless, Villa would have to compete with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Brighton who have done it before. One example of a youngster snatched by The Lions was Alysson Edward. He was signed from Gremio for only £10.5 million in the winter transfer window last season.
