Juventus have confirmed that Randal Kolo Muani underwent successful surgery after fracturing the proximal phalanx of the fifth finger on his right hand during Sunday’s win over Atalanta.
The centre-forward suffered the injury in an accidental collision during the first half of the 2-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Post-match tests confirmed the fracture, making osteosynthesis surgery necessary.
The procedure was performed on Monday afternoon at J|medical, the club’s medical centre at the Continassa complex, by Dr Loris Pegoli. According to Juventus’s official medical bulletin, the operation was completely successful and Kolo Muani will remain available for selection.
The club added that the forward can resume training within a couple of days, meaning he should be fit to work with Luciano Spalletti during the upcoming international break. That timeline suggests the disruption to his season, while unwelcome, should be relatively brief.
Kolo Muani, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward, has scored one goal and provided two assists in six competitive appearances for Juventus so far this season. His involvement has been a feature of Spalletti’s early tactical setup, making his fitness status one to monitor closely as the fixture list intensifies.
The injury lands amid an already lengthy Juventus absentee list. Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Juan Cabal, Andrea Cambiaso, Kamil Grabara, Jeremie Boga and Jeff Ekhator are all currently unavailable, leaving Spalletti with limited options in multiple areas of the squad.
Given the short recovery window described in the club’s update, Kolo Muani’s absence should be measured in days rather than weeks. Juventus will nonetheless be relieved that the procedure went smoothly and that their forward, whose path back to Turin has been well documented following his initial move from PSG, is not facing a lengthy spell out.
