Aston Villa linked to Argentine star for the future move

Aston Villa have been keeping tabs on Argentine star who is currently playing for River Plate for the future move.

Aston Villa have identified more target for their next transfer window. He is the youngster who still currently playing in South America giant, River Plate. The 19-year-old Tobias Andrada is one of the rising star in the region. He has just made a switch to Los Millonarios from Velez Sarsfield this summer.

However, according to the report in El Crack Deportivo, via Sportwitness, The Lions have been keeping eye on him for a while.

“Aston Villa are already being linked with Tobías Andrada, just a couple of months after the midfielder joined River Plate.”

His current situation

Andrada just joined River Plate in August this year. He moved with the initial fee around £4.4m. However, it is believed that such amount is only part of the deal. The total fee to be paid for the player’s former club could be reaching £8.1m, if the objectives in his transfer is met. His contract runs until December 2030.

Aston Villa practically has lost the race to sign him, as they and several other European sides had monitored the versatile midfielder when he was still in Velez Sarsfield. Nevertheless, Villa does not give up. They should prepare an attractive offer on the table for River Plate who is on the stronger position in the negotiation in the next transfer window, if they are still keen on signing the young Argentine.

How good is Tobias Andrada

The product of Velez Sarsfield academy has featured in eight games and registered one goal so far this season. He won two domestic titles with his previous clubs, with 36 appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Andrada is mainly deployed as a defensive midfielder but can also operate on the right flank. Based on the data in FotMob this season, the Villa Luzuriaga-born midfielder has been a regular starter in his new club. His form in the domestic league has been fairly impressive. His xG is 1.56 while his xA is 1.91. He has created 21 shots this season, with seven of them on target.

His successful passes is 83.3 %, whereas his accurate long ball is 61 %. Andrada’s successful dribble has been rated 45.6 %. Meanwhile, the rate of his winning duels is up to 47.4 %. His defensive contribution is superb too, up to 96 so far. Such includes 58 tackles, 21 interceptions, 16 clearance and 1 blocking shot.

The current River Plate man was part of the Argentina U20 squad last year when they reached the final in 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile. He set up two goals in the process before reaching the summit. Sadly, he could not help his team lift the trophy after suffering a 2-0 loss against Morocco U20.
