Aston Villa boss, Unai Emery, has snubbed Alejandro Garnacho again from the team in the Carabao Cup win against Coventry last night.
Aston Villa has secured another win this season last night. They crushed Coventry City 3-1 in the Carabao Cup on the road. Tammy Abraham bagged a brace plus one goal from Ross Barkley gave the necessary win for The Lions to gain their confidence back after a loss in the Premier League last weekend.
Emery did rotate the squad as expected with Ibrahim Mbaye, Matteo Ruggeri, Lamare Bogarde and Taylor Harwood-Bellis getting a nod as a starter. Alysson and Johan Manzambi were subbed on in the second half. Yet, there was no Alejandro Garnacho again in the team. The Argentine has been snubbed again for making his next appearances.
The Spaniard boss, however, remains calm when handling the inquiries on Chelsea’s loanee. He shared his view on his absence as reported in Birmingham mail.
“We want a competitive team and players to compete in the style we have. Garnacho is a little bit behind because of some circumstances we had in pre-season. It is time to be patient for the time he needs.”
Emery believes Garnacho’s being sidelined is normal. He added it on his comments during the interview with the press.
“When he can have minutes to play, try and play well. He is progressing, but we have players in front of him now. George is playing fantastic. Alysson is also understanding things well and is giving us things I want. Mbaye also responded well.
The competition on both flanks are fierce indeed. George Hemmings, Ibrahim Mbaye and Alysson are the Argentine rivals now and they are improving day after day. Last night in CBS Arena, the first two provided the assists while Alysson slowly but surely begins to play in a way Villa want.
The former Manchester United man does have to strive to convince his boss that he could make the difference as Emery expects. His best years in Old Trafford is one of his forms Emery would like to see from him again in Villa Park.
“We want to see him at the same level he was at in the first part of the season last year at Chelsea, and before that at Manchester United,’ Emery stressed. ‘He has this challenge, and it’s my challenge to help him achieve it.”
Villa captain, John McGinn weighs in on Garnacho’s issue. He realizes the challenge the winger faces to get settled in Emery’s team. The Scotsman touted the 22-year-old player’s need to be patient and resilient on his work to reach the level his boss wants, as reported in dailymail.
“It’s a demanding style and very unique system. A lot of work in the classroom. It does take time. It’s not just a case of your normal 4-4-2 or your normal 4-2-3-1. It’s the detail but it’s different. It’s like me going to play international football – it’s a different kind of football. You just need to adapt and hopefully over time we start to grow.”
