Nick Woltemade has completed his season-long loan move to Juventus from Newcastle United and used his first interview as a Bianconeri player to describe the club as the biggest in Italy, while laying out exactly what kind of centre-forward he believes he is. The Germany international’s arrival, confirmed on deadline day of the summer transfer window, gives Luciano Spalletti another option up front alongside Randal Kolo Muani.
The comments were relayed by Football Italia, which drew on Woltemade’s first sit-down with Juventus’ own media channels. In it, he explained his excitement at joining a big club in a new country and thanked his family and agency for helping the move happen, while stressing he is eager to get started in Serie A.
Juventus had reportedly been eyeing a more physical centre-forward profile to rotate with Kolo Muani, a search that had also shaped earlier interest in alternatives such as Joshua Zirkzee before Woltemade emerged as the priority target. Despite standing at 1.98 metres, Woltemade pushed back on the idea that his size defines his game, pointing instead to his technique, game understanding and ability to score, assist and find the right positions on the pitch.
Juventus also brought in Pape Matar Sarr on loan with an option to buy from Tottenham on the same deadline day, adding to a summer that had already seen Kolo Muani, Kerim Alajbegovic, Jhon Lucumi, Guglielmo Vicario, Jeff Ekhator, Zeki Celik and Kamil Grabara join the squad.
The initial cost of the loan for the 2026-27 campaign is reported at just €2.8m, a modest outlay for a forward Juventus hope can add a different dimension to their attack. Woltemade noted that the side had won both of its opening two Serie A matches and said he wants to contribute goals, assists and the kind of final pass that helps the team win, rather than setting out specific personal targets.
He added that he prefers to focus on enjoying the moment, believing that mindset brings the best out of him on the pitch. With his Serie A debut still to come, his early performances will go a long way toward showing whether Juventus’ broader rebuilding push has found another useful piece up front.
