This driver shaft (and brand) continues to dominate the PGA Tour
A year after a Fujikura driver shaft swept all four major championships, they’re again at the top of the pecking order for winners on the PGA Tour.
While Fujikura didn’t get the major sweep again in 2026, the company led the winning counts for driver shafts on the PGA Tour once again. Its Ventus line of shafts had more victories than any other brand’s entire catalog and the Ventus Black profile itself had as many victories as the second-place brand.
What’s also impressive is that the driver shaft market on the PGA Tour is effectively dominated by three brands, with Mitsubishi and Project X also having solid years this season.
But they both continue to chase Fujikura.

The Ventus Black is currently the class of PGA Tour driver shafts, with established veterans like Rory McIlroy (6-X) and Gary Woodland (8-X+) playing it, along with young stars like Akshay Bhatia (7-X) and Michael Thorbjornsen (7-X+).
Of course, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler continues to employ the original Ventus Black 7-X, even after his switch to the new TaylorMade Qi4D driver. Alex Fitzpatrick (6-X) and Ricky Castillo (7-X) also won with the OG Ventus Black.
The original Ventus Black profile would dominate this list even by itself, with seven victories alone. Add in wins by Woodland, Thorbjorsen, J.J. Spaun (6-X) and Bud Cauley (6-X) with the updated VeloCore+ version, and it blows everything else out of the water.
No. 2. Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black (4 wins by 2 players)
The Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black is one of four shafts used by a three-time winner this season. The HZRDUS gets a bump up the ranking because not only did Chris Gotterup use it in his breakout season, but it got an additional win by Russell Henley.
With Gotterup one of the PGA Tour’s longest players and Henley one of the shortest, the wins by the HZRDUS Smoke Black prove it to be a very versatile profile.
Project X HZRDUS Gen 5 Black Wood Shaft
Just when you thought HZRDUS Black couldn’t get any better, it did. Like Clark and the Titan Yellow, Matt Fitzpatrick was the only player to win with the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange this season or any Tensei Orange profile, but he did so three times. It’s the same shaft Fitzpatrick has used for all of his career PGA Tour wins.
Ironically, Fitzpatrick has switched back to the Titleist TSi3 driver this year and is currently playing the same setup that won him the U.S. Open in 2022.
Mitsubishi Chemical Tensei 1K Pro Orange RIP+ Wood Shaft
Mitsubishi TENSEI™ shafts featuring an orange band have historically signified a counterbalanced design. Within the MLAB fitting philosophy, this profile is engineered to influence club delivery through feel, start line, and impact location.

T5. Fujikura Ventus TR Black+ (2 wins by 2 players)
Unlike Fitzpatrick’s Tensei Orange, the Ventus TR Black with VeloCore+ is a brand-new shaft on the PGA Tour this season, debuting in March alongside the updated Ventus TR Red. They both followed January’s launch of the new Ventus TR Blue.
Success has come pretty quickly for the shaft Fujikura calls its stiffest ever. Viktor Hovland finally switched out of his G425 LST/Speeder TR combo to the G440 LST and TR Black+ and won two weeks later at the Travelers.
Fujikura also got its second major of the season with this shaft when Ryan Fox switched to it just before winning the Open Championship.
Fujikura 2026 Ventus TR Black Wood Shaft (Velocore+)
