The 2026 Walker Cup, the biennial event pitting 10 top American amateurs against 10 amateurs from Great Britain and Ireland, begins this week at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the amateur team event, including a full Walker Cup TV schedule, complete streaming information and more.
If you feel like you just watched the Walker Cup, you’re not mistaken. Typically contested every two years, this year’s tournament is being played one year after the 2025 Walker Cup at Cypress Point in California.
The reason we get to watch the tournament in back-to-back years is because the USGA and R&A decided to shift the competition to even years beginning this week to avoid scheduling issues with the World Amateur Team Championships.
This year marks the 51st playing of the Ryder Cup-style event, and the U.S. has a 40-9-1 record overall.
The competition is played across two days, with four morning foursomes matches and eight singles matches being played on Saturday, September 5. On Sunday, the teams will again face off in four foursomes matches in the morning before all 20 players compete in 10 singles matches in the afternoon.
At last year’s Walker Cup, the U.S. team dominated Sunday singles at Cypress Point to earn a 17-9 victory. So Great Britain and Ireland will be hungry to take back the title on home soil.
The entire tournament will be televised for viewers in the U.S., but given the time change the action gets started early in the morning each day.
Golf Channel will provide exclusive TV coverage of the 2026 Walker Cup, while Golfchannel.com and the Golf Channel app will offer additional streaming coverage.
