Aston Villa are set to welcome The Gunners for their first home game of the Premier League season on Tuesday.
Aston Villa have had a turbulent summer, with plenty of new names joining the squad following the departure of several key men. Villa could still lose more players and sign another one before deadline day.
The clash against Arsenal will be their first home game and probably not the ideal time for their new signings to make their debuts, since they have not had much of a chance to play together yet. The likes of Zion Suzuki, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nicolas Jackson, Leon Goretzka and Ibrahim Mbaye are likely to get a nod in the starting XI alongside Matteo Ruggeri.
Unfortunately, it will be quite a challenge for them. Playing host to the reigning champions, who have made a fine start so far, is a fairly tricky prospect considering Villa’s heavy defeat in the opener. It will be the first time for all those new signings to play at Villa Park in front of the Villans.
Tuesday’s game could also mark the first time Ezri Konsa returns to Villa Park as an opposition player. The centre-back sealed a move to North London after seven years at Bodymoor Heath.
It is definitely not the expected reunion for the Villans, as Konsa and Villa’s new signings will all be striving to prove that they deserve the move, a spot in the line-up and the chance to gain regular minutes. In short, it is a game that will serve as an introduction for the new signings.
