Aston Villa are surprisingly in pursuit of signing the Manchester United star ahead of the deadline day for a potential late move.
Aston Villa do not seem to stop in their transfer business yet. With only three days left on the deadline day plus already securing two new forwards and winger recently, they are now chasing the slightly impossible target from their Premier League rival. He is a Manchester United man, Amad Diallo.
Based on the report in 225foot.com, Villa have even gone further than just expressing their interest.
“Aston Villa have officially submitted a concrete offer to Manchester United to sign the Ivory Coast international. The Villans are looking to bolster their attack and see him as the ideal candidate to revitalize their offensive line.”
Villa’s attempt to lure Diallo might be rather pointless as the winger is one of United’s key men. The winger who joined The Red Devils in the mid-season of 2020/21 has been considered as one of their important players.
Diallo is still under contract until 2030 and currently valued at £ 45 million. His price tag could be a lot higher than that.
The Ivorian winger also mainly operates on the right flank, despite his ability to play on the left side, attacking midfielder and right wing back. That position is similar to Villa’s new signing, Ibrahim Mbaye.
The 24-year-old winger knows his importance for his current side due to his versatility as well as his ambition to win more titles with United. He is likely to play more regularly if Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford are loaned out to Fiorentina and Fenerbahce respectively. They have been making their move for their target. Last season, despite playing regularly, his most important contribution was providing one assist as United humiliated The Reds 2-1 in front of The Reds fans. Meanwhile, in the 2024 FA Cup, Diallo scored a winning goal as Manchester United saw off Liverpool 4-3 through extra time.
Thus, Diallo clearly is unlikely interested in the Villa switch. United is also playing in the Champions League too this season, which makes it even harder for Villa to lure him out of Old Trafford.
