Man United Interested In Leipzig’s Raum

Manchester United have reportedly identified RB Leipzig captain David Raum as another potential solution at left-back. According to The Guardian, United could explore the 28-year-old’s situation in the coming weeks if their pursuit of Lewis Hall continues to stall. Raum has spent the past four years with Leipzig and has played his entire senior career in Germany. The defender also represented his country at this summer’s World Cup, coming off the bench during Germany’s 7-1 victory over Curacao before completing the full match in their group-stage defeat to Ecuador.

His experience would make him a different proposition from the other left-backs currently on United’s radar. Hall and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly have attracted the most attention in recent days, although INEOS appear to have a stronger preference for the Newcastle defender. That interest has remained firm despite Arsenal reportedly offering Lewis-Skelly to United this week. The 19-year-old is understood to have no intention of leaving the Emirates, while Hall is reportedly open to moving to Old Trafford. Newcastle, however, are reluctant to part with Hall, meaning any potential deal could require United to pay around £60 million. Such a figure could ultimately make the transfer difficult to pursue. Raum therefore represents a more experienced alternative if United decide they need to look elsewhere.

Pogba Career Suffers New Setback

Paul Pogba’s efforts to revive his career have suffered another setback, with AS Monaco reportedly considering an early termination of the midfielder’s contract. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Monaco have begun discussions over a financial settlement that would allow both parties to end the 33-year-old’s agreement, which was originally due to run until 2027. The development follows reports that Pogba has suffered another thigh injury during pre-season training, adding to an increasingly lengthy list of physical problems since his arrival in the Principality.

Pogba joined Monaco as a free agent in June 2025 after serving an 18-month suspension for a doping violation, having initially received a four-year ban in late 2023 following a positive test for elevated DHEA levels while playing for Juventus. The Court of Arbitration for Sport subsequently reduced the punishment on appeal, allowing him to return to football in early 2025. His comeback has nevertheless been severely disrupted by injuries.

Knee problems and recurring muscular issues limited Pogba to just 115 competitive minutes during the 2025/26 season, all of them coming across six substitute appearances. The Frenchman has also managed only 45 minutes of action in warm-up matches this summer. His latest injury setback appears to have prompted Monaco to consider ending the relationship before the transfer window closes, leaving Pogba’s attempt to rebuild his career facing another major obstacle.
