Juventus have withdrawn from the race for Zion Suzuki and shifted their goalkeeper search toward Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, with Parma’s asking price proving too high for a deal.
The development was reported by ParmaLive, which said Juventus withdrew from the pursuit because of the transfer fee, before Gianluca Di Marzio added that the club had turned its focus to Vicario.
Luciano Spalletti said through Di Marzio that Suzuki is a player he likes and a goalkeeper with significant potential, but that the cost makes a transfer difficult. Juventus’ pursuit came after Michele Di Gregorio’s departure was confirmed, while the club also explored other goalkeeper options.
Juventus were not the only club to pursue Suzuki. Tuttosport reported that Suzuki rejected transfer offers from Leeds United and Newcastle United, despite both clubs having the financial capacity to meet Parma’s fee, because he prioritised a move to Juventus. Corriere dello Sport also reported that a Juventus proposal for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez was rejected, with the club then focusing on Suzuki.
With Juventus stepping back, ParmaLive assessed that Paris Saint-Germain had become the frontrunner for Suzuki. The report said PSG viewed the goalkeeper as a long-term investment rather than an immediate starter, with Gianluigi Donnarumma established as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Parma set a minimum fee of 35 million euros for Suzuki, more than three times the roughly 10 million euros, including options, involved in Suzuki’s 2024 transfer from Sint-Truiden. That gap helps explain Juventus’ shift toward Vicario as an emerging shortlist option.
A supplementary report published by Yahoo Sports, citing Corriere dello Sport, said Tottenham were offering Vicario on loan with an option to buy worth £12.8 million. The same report said Juventus were open to that proposed structure rather than a permanent transfer.
