Juventus have opened initial contacts over a move for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, according to SportItalia’s Gianluigi Longari and later Gianluca Di Marzio, as the club’s search for a new starting goalkeeper continues.
New CEO Giovanni Carnevali continues the search for a long-term replacement for Michele Di Gregorio. Suzuki has been Parma’s starter for the past two seasons and just came off a strong World Cup run with Japan, while the arrival of Giovanni Daffara at the Tardini could open the door for the Bianconeri to revisit that relationship.
Juventus are not alone in the race. Aston Villa and Leeds United have also been credited with interest in Suzuki, and both Premier League clubs have more resources at their disposal in any negotiation with Parma.
Di Marzio’s report noted there is more concrete interest in Suzuki from the Premier League, which is why Guglielmo Vicario remains in pole position as things stand. That framing raised its own questions given Emiliano Martinez had been considered the frontrunner for weeks, leaving Juventus’ actual order of preference unclear in that early July report.
Parma are reportedly seeking around €30 million for Suzuki, who is under contract at the club through 2029. That valuation, paired with competition from two English clubs, is the main obstacle standing between Juventus and a deal, particularly with Villa still working through their own Martinez situation before committing fully elsewhere.
Suzuki turns 24 the week the 2026-27 season begins and already has two seasons of Serie A experience as a starter, making him a more forward-looking pick than the 29-year-old Vicario.
With Vicario reported to be leaving Tottenham this window and Suzuki facing stiffer Premier League competition, Juventus’ final call may hinge on which situation resolves first rather than which goalkeeper the club prefers on merit.
