Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to sign Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, with the 25-year-old’s representatives approaching the club directly through intermediaries.

The approach signals a growing interest in bringing Balogun to north London as manager Roberto De Zerbi continues his search for attacking reinforcements this summer.

Balogun is seen as a potential option to provide competition for Dominic Solanke, with Tottenham weighing up the American striker alongside other targets.

The Monaco forward has a contract running until June 2028, but his availability for a reasonable fee has made him an attractive proposition for De Zerbi’s side.

Balogun impressed on the biggest stage earlier this year, scoring three goals in four World Cup matches for the co-hosts and helping his nation reach the round of 16.

That form has attracted attention from several clubs, and Tottenham appear to be the latest to have been presented with the opportunity to sign him.

Tottenham have also been given Liverpool’s asking price for Cody Gakpo, reported to be in the region of £70 million, though the Merseyside club are said to have little intention of selling the Dutchman.

That makes Balogun the more attainable alternative should De Zerbi push for fresh firepower before the transfer window closes.

Adding further complexity to Tottenham’s summer, Roberto De Zerbi addressed the future of Richarlison directly, telling Football London: “I don’t know if Richarlison will leave this summer.”

Solanke and Richarlison have both been linked with possible exits, which could open the door further for a new striker arrival at the club.

Elsewhere, the future of captain Cristian Romero continues to generate significant uncertainty, with the Argentine defender reportedly waiting on whether Barcelona will submit a formal offer.

Barcelona sporting director Deco is believed to be an admirer of Romero, though talks between the clubs are understood to have stalled in recent weeks.

Atletico Madrid remain the reported frontrunners to sign Romero, who is valued at around £34 million, with Inter Milan also credited with a firm interest in the centre-back.

A potential switch to Arsenal has reportedly been ruled out entirely by Tottenham, who have no intention of selling the defender to a direct Premier League rival.

On the goalkeeping front, Tottenham have rejected any proposal for Guglielmo Vicario that included a goalkeeper swap, underlining their determination to keep the Italian shot-stopper on their own terms.
