Aston Villa transfer plan has been linked to sign one of Argentina’s top talents from outside Europe.

After securing Modou Cisse, the latest name shortlisted in The Lion’s radar is Boca Juniors man, Tomas Aranda. According to the report in El Intrasigente, a number of clubs in Europe are eyeing on Aranda’s situation with a hope of development on their side.

Considering Boca’s heavy investment on their youth team under their president, who is also former Argentina international, Roman Riquelme, they prefer to keep him as long as possible before selling to the highest bidder in Europe. Releasing Aranda soon would ruin the team’s plan this season. So, it would be interesting to see how far The Lions would attempt to sign him. Aranda is an attacking midfielder who mainly operates on the left wing. He could play the number 10 role or number 8 as well. In the first half of the season, he featured in 24 games, netting twice and setting up twice in all competitions. Previously, in the reserve team, he had been impressive with five goals and four assists in 39 games during the 2025 season.

His successful dribble is 60.5 % with 51.7 % for winning duels. He has done well when it comes to making contribution defensively with 15 tackles, five interceptions and six clearances.
Should Villa decide to pursue him and succeed in signing him, the club might need to consider giving him more immediate chance to be in the first team instead of loaning out for too long and too often like what happened to other youngsters they signed before.
