Aston Villa could be losing more of their key players this summer following the recent departure of Morgan Rogers.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is over. The summer transfer window will now be in the spotlight, especially deals involving top names or players who shone at the World Cup.
Aston Villa’s key figures are surely included in the talks. Emiliano Martinez has probably been the headline name over the past few weeks, but he is not the only one. He continously has been linked to the exit with Juventus. Yet, there has been no official confirmation on the dea. In fact, Villa is still planning to keep him in the team next season.
Apart from the Argentine, the likes of two Englishmen called up to the World Cup squad, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins, have been mentioned as well, whereas the departures of Leon Bailey and Ross Barkley are more expected. Will they be leaving Villa Park too?
The centre-back has been on Arsenal’s radar recently. The Gunners seem to be interested in his services. Konsa’s contract still runs until summer 2028, and Villa are not really keen on selling him, especially after losing Youri Tielemans, Lucas Digne, and Morgan Rogers.
However, if they are forced to sell him, then The Lions would expect any potential suitors to meet their valuation. They are expected to let him leave only for £50– £60 million.
Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to be preparing a bid, but the latest update suggests otherwise. While Konsa is still highly regarded as a potential signing, The Gunners now seem to prefer John Stones instead. The 32-year-old defender is currently a free agent, and he could fill the void left by the injured William Saliba. Therefore, there is a greater chance that Konsa will remain at Villa Park.
Meanwhile, their frontman, Ollie Watkins, has been eyed by the Turkish giants Fenerbahçe. They seem to be preparing to submit an official offer.
Villa, once again, would not want to let their number one forward leave. There would be a huge gap to fill, as finding an inexpensive yet proven striker on the market this summer—especially one who is interested in joining The Clarets and Blue—would be difficult.
Should The Lions be willing to sell him, Fenerbahçe would have to meet their valuation of around £40 million. The 30-year-old frontman is still under contract until 2028 and might not be interested in playing outside Europe’s elite top five leagues. He was rumored to have been interested in the move but such is very unlikely.
