Ryan Fox wins Open Championship with unreleased Srixon clubs
With a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole, Ryan Fox won his first major championship at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
Fox’s win comes with a bevy of unreleased Srixon golf clubs at the top end of his set.
The most notable is the Srixon ZXi RKT LS+ driver he used to split the fairway on the 18th, rifling his tee shot 330 yards on what was the second-toughest hole at Royal Birkdale on Sunday.
The ZXi RKT family of drivers launched on the PGA Tour at the Travelers Championship last month and Fox added the LS+ model in its first week of availability. While Srixon has thus far kept details close to the vest, the branding “Acousticore” on the sole seems to indicate that Srixon is focusing on the sound of its new driver line, something that has been a complaint with recent models.
Just this week, Fox also added the ZXi RKT 3-wood, which launched just a week ago at the Scottish Open.

For the week, Fox was 10th in SG: Off the Tee, gaining more than three shots over the four rounds.
Fox was also playing a prototype ZXi5+ utility iron. This new utility iron option also popped up at the Travelers Championship. It appears to be sized in between Srixon’s ZXiU utility and popular ZXi5 iron model, which is common as a long-iron option on the PGA Tour.
All three of the clubs were shafted with Fujikura Ventus models sporting VeloCore+ technology.
From there, Fox sports a fairly standard setup for Srixon staff players from a combo of the ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons, to his Cleveland RTZ wedges and Z-Star XV golf ball.
What isn’t standard is his Ping Anser 2D putter with a 40-inch KBS 8-iron shaft.
According to Ping, Fox wanted a heavier feel and extra stability, so a few years ago while in Europe, he plugged the stout C-Taper 8-iron shaft into his flatstick and found what he was looking for.
He ended up leading the field in putting by a whopping margin, with more than nine shots gained on the greens. It may have been unorthodox, but it works and he’s picked up all three of his PGA Tour wins with it.
