Liverpool Fight To Keep Rio Ngumoha As Bayern Munich Circle Anfield Wonderkid

Liverpool are pushing hard to secure a new contract with teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha amid growing interest from Bayern Munich.

The 17-year-old has attracted significant attention from across Europe following a sensational rise through the ranks at Anfield.

Ngumoha currently has a contract running until 2028, but Liverpool are already concerned about his long-term future at the club.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Reds will look to tie him down to a new deal once he turns 18 later this year.

Suggestions have emerged that Bayern Munich have already agreed personal terms with the teenager, raising serious alarm bells at Liverpool.

O’Rourke explained the situation clearly, stating, “Obviously Liverpool are not planning to lose Rio Ngumoha any time soon. He’s seen as a huge star for the future for the Anfield club.”

O’Rourke added, “He’s under contract until 2028, but I think Liverpool’s officials will be very keen to sit down with Ngumoha’s representatives and try and thrash out a new deal when he turns 18 in a few months.”

He also noted that “Liverpool are obviously unhappy with this suggestion that Bayern Munich have agreed personal terms with the player to try and get a deal done.”

Ngumoha was officially promoted to Liverpool’s first team last summer, though he had already been featuring in senior football before that point.

Despite appearing in 29 first-team games last season, he logged fewer than 1,000 minutes and contributed to just three goals, leaving some feeling he was underused.

Arne Slot’s handling of the youngster has been questioned, with many believing Ngumoha deserved a more prominent role given his obvious talent and potential.

Bayern Munich are keen to exploit the situation and are actively looking to add quality on the flanks, with Ngumoha seen as an ideal fit for their project.

The German giants view him as a player who could support and compete with Luis Diaz for a starting position in their attack.

Liverpool, however, are not prepared to stand aside and are intent on offering Ngumoha fresh long-term terms to ward off advances from Bayern and other European clubs.

The Merseyside club believe he will have a significant role to play under Andoni Iraola next season, viewing him as central to their long-term ambitions.
