Aston Villa new preferred summer transfer target shortlisted

Aston Villa have shortlisted new preferable transfer target for their squad reinforcement this summer.

Aston Villa transfer business has been underway to hunt targets and hold talks. Recently some new names have been identified. Sadly, some have been unlikely to make a switch to Villa Park due to various reasons such as financial challenges or the change of priorities.

The like of PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye and Fulham’s Harry Wilson is the recent examples. The former’s price tag has been deemed beyond Villa’s budget for such youngster. Meanwhile, the latter was already under The Lions’ radar but the latest development has shown the less probability of the Welsh international heading to West Midlands because of the winger priority. Wilson is more suitable as the number 10 role, which is currently not in urgency to snatch, unless Morgan Rogers has departed earlier than expected.

According to the sources and report in The Athletic, Aston Villa transfer plan has been in progress.

“In recent months, Villa have been checking in with representatives of players of interest, asking about the conditions of a potential deal. “

Several figures have been on the report such as Jonathan Rowe, James Trafford, Oscar Mingueza and Harvey Barnes. Here are the other remaining preferable targets.

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund)

The 24-year-old winger is well-known for his dribbling and pace. He is capable of playing in both flanks and attacking midfielder too. The former RB Salzburg man has registered 36 goals and 25 assists for Dortmund since joining in 2022. In the 2025/26, Adeyemi scored 10 goals and set up six.

The winger with 11 international caps sadly failed to make the cut in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Germany final squad. So far, he has only bagged one goal plus made one assists for Die Mannschaft.

Adeyemi’s contract expires in summer 2027. Villa is expected to be ready to meet his asking price, which is about £43 million. It is still under the maximum amount the club could spend this summer.

Nicolo Tresoldi (Club Brugge)

The 21-year old striker is another target Villa has been eyeing. He is one of the promising talent upfront with an eye for goals. He is the current top scorer in Belgian top flight and helped his team win the league in 2026, with 23 goals in all competitions.

Tresoldi has yet to earn a call-up from German senior national team. His contract expires in 2029. Therefore, Club Brugge would have the advantage on his future, although it is very unlikely for them to keep them longer. Any potential suitors would be expected to match his £26 million price tag. Should he join Villa, Tresoldi is definitely an upgrade for Tammy Abraham.

Crysencio Summerville (West Ham)

The Dutch winger is one of the most wanted figures in the summer transfer window following the relegation of his current side, West Ham. He is expected to leave considering his fine form with the Hammers in the 2025/26 campaign. Summerville managed to score seven goals and provided five assists in 34 games.

The former Leeds man has just made his senior debut in the friendly match versus Algeria this month ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup. His contract will ends in 2029 too. Yet, his asking price from The Hammers is potentially higher, up to £35 million. It will be interesting to see which ones Villa would choose to sign eventually.
