Aston Villa have emerged among the potential suitors for a Barcelona winger in the current summer transfer window.
Aston Villa’s transfer business needs to accelerate soon, as the growing competition for their targets could become a stumbling block to their plans. The Lions have identified a winger from Barcelona who could be heading for the exit from Catalonia. According to a report from barcanewsnetwork.com, Villa are one of six clubs monitoring the player.
“Aston Villa, Everton, Leeds United, Brighton, Brentford and Sunderland are also interested in Ronny Bardghji, who is also likely to be willing to go out on loan this summer in order to play regularly.”
Bardghji is currently tied to a contract with Barcelona until 2029. However, he missed out on Sweden’s final World Cup squad due to a lack of regular playing time.
Barcelona are open to allowing him to leave on loan to a Premier League club because of the strong interest from England. Nevertheless, the Catalan giants would also consider a permanent transfer if any of the interested clubs meet their valuation. Blaugrana are reportedly willing to part ways with him for around £9 million.
Such a fee is certainly within Villa’s reach. It remains well below the club’s expected spending limit. He fits the profile Emery is looking for in a winger and, at just 20 years old, represents an ideal long-term investment. Villa needs to make immediate move to hold talks as he ticks all the box and obvious target to sign. Otherwise, their rivals could make their approach instead.
The Swedish international is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in his country. He joined Barcelona from FC Copenhagen last summer and was tipped to become Lamine Yamal’s deputy on the right wing.
During the 2025/26 campaign, he made 28 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and four assists. However, he was mainly used as a substitute rather than a regular starter.
According to data from FotMob, the winger with three international caps lacks a clinical edge in front of goal but performs well in attacking build-up play. His xG stands at 1.43, while his pass completion rate reaches 88.7 per cent and his accurate long-ball percentage is 66.7 per cent. Meanwhile, his successful dribble rate is 53.7 per cent, with a crossing accuracy of 27.8 per cent.
The 20-year-old right winger also needs to improve his defensive contribution, having recorded only 11 defensive actions last season. That is an area he would need to develop further. At Villa, he would also be expected to improve his pressing, which is a crucial requirement for modern wide players.
