Dusan Vlahovic is set to depart Juventus at the end of his contract, becoming one of the most coveted free agents in European football this summer.
Juventus director Giorgio Chiellini confirmed that contract extension talks with the Serbian forward have officially broken down, ending the club’s hopes of retaining him.
Chiellini made clear that the separation was a financial matter, expressing genuine sadness that a resolution could not be reached between both parties.
“I’m sad, I wanted Dusan to stay as he cares about our club, but wants more money,” Chiellini stated, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano sharing the quotes on X.
Chiellini went further, confirming definitively that Vlahovic would not be extending his stay in Serie A under current financial conditions.
“At current salary conditions, he will NOT stay in Italy,” Chiellini confirmed, making the situation crystal clear for clubs circling the striker across Europe.
Newcastle United have emerged as one of the most serious suitors for Vlahovic, with the Magpies strongly keen on bringing the striker to Tyneside this summer.
The opportunity to acquire a player valued at €80 million without paying a single penny in transfer fees represents an extraordinary proposition for any club willing to match his wage demands.
St James’ Park chiefs are reportedly prepared to put together a substantial wage package in order to convince Vlahovic that Newcastle is the right destination for the next chapter of his career.
Vlahovic leaves Juventus having scored 68 goals and registered 16 assists across 168 appearances in all competitions for the Italian giants since joining from Fiorentina in January 2022.
Across his 123 Serie A appearances for Juventus, the Serbian international netted exactly 50 league goals, a tally that only Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez has surpassed in the Italian top flight during the same period.
Despite battling a persistent thigh injury that limited his involvement throughout the 2025-26 domestic campaign, Vlahovic still contributed 7 goals in 19 Serie A appearances and 3 goals in just 4 Champions League matches.
Including his time at Fiorentina and Partizan, Vlahovic has accumulated an extraordinary career record of 140 goals and 26 assists across 325 club appearances in total.
Newcastle will not have an easy path to signing Vlahovic, however, with Premier League rivals Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham all heavily monitoring the situation.
The competition stretches across the continent too, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid all reported to have a strong interest in the 26-year-old forward.
Vlahovic’s representatives are already in talks with multiple clubs, and his next destination remains wide open, setting the stage for one of the most compelling transfer battles of the summer window.
