The Phoenix Suns have fully guaranteed Oso Ighodaro’s $2.3 million contract for the 2026/27 season, according to a report from Bobby Marks of ESPN.
The deal had previously been only partially guaranteed, with $250,000 locked in and a further $250,000 set to vest on the first day of the regular season.
That escalator clause is now irrelevant, with the Suns moving early to secure the young center’s place on the roster for next season.
Ighodaro is an Arizona native who played his high school basketball in Phoenix, giving his contract extension added significance for the local fanbase.
The 6-foot-11 center appeared in all 82 regular season games for the Suns during the 2025/26 campaign, his second year in the NBA.
He averaged 6.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 steals per game across 22.0 minutes of action throughout that regular season.
Ighodaro also featured in both of the Suns’ play-in tournament games and all four of the team’s playoff contests, demonstrating his growing importance to the rotation.
The big man spent four years playing college basketball at Marquette before being selected 40th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
His current contract also includes a $2.5 million team option for the 2027/28 season, giving Phoenix continued control over his long-term future.
With this guarantee confirmed, the Suns now have nine players on fully guaranteed contracts heading into the 2026/27 season.
The decision to lock in Ighodaro ahead of schedule signals the organisation’s belief that the young center has a meaningful role to play going forward.
