New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson has responded to his detractors after news broke about a finger injury ahead of the NBA Finals.
Robinson turned to Instagram to both acknowledge fan support and confront those he believes wished him harm during his recovery period.
He suffered a broken pinkie finger on his right hand before the Finals began, a situation that required him to undergo surgery before the series got underway.
The circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear, as neither when nor how Robinson broke the finger has been publicly explained.
Despite the surgery, the current plan is for Robinson to attempt to play through the injury and contribute to the Knicks during the Finals.
Robinson did not hold back in his Instagram post, directing sharp words at those he felt had turned on him during a difficult time.
“The ones that want to see me down and hurt all I gotta say for you is f–k you,” Robinson wrote in the post.
He also addressed people closer to him, adding, “the ones that say they love and care about me but can’t be there for me when I need them but I’m always there when they need me god will get you.”
Robinson serves as the Knicks’ top center off the bench and is widely regarded for his defensive presence in the paint.
Throughout the postseason, he has averaged 5.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks across 14.2 minutes per game off the bench.
His rebounding and shot-blocking ability make him a valued contributor, and his availability for the Finals remains a significant storyline for New York heading into the series.
