Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Liverpool and Arsenal hold genuine interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola ahead of a summer window that could reshape the Premier League’s attacking market.
Romano described the 23-year-old as a “serious option” for Liverpool specifically, noting that the club has tracked him for an extended period and views him as an ideal profile for Arne Slot’s system.
“Liverpool really appreciate Barcola,” Romano said, adding: “Barcola is still not signing a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain as of now, and so I would say Barcola could be again a serious option for Liverpool.”
The Frenchman’s contract situation at PSG is the central variable. Without a new deal agreed, his camp will inevitably field Premier League approaches more openly as the summer progresses.
Arsenal’s interest runs parallel to Liverpool’s and is described by Romano as genuine rather than exploratory, with Mikel Arteta’s side considering attacking additions after winning the Premier League title this season.
Barcola contributed 22 goal involvements across all competitions this season, but has struggled at times to hold down a regular starting berth under Luis Enrique, which strengthens the case for a move.
French media outlet RMC also weighed in, with pundit Daniel Riolo arguing: “If I were Bradley Barcola’s agent at the end of the season, I would tell him: listen, we have won two Champions Leagues, there is an offer in the Premier League, let’s go for it!”
The key complication is the Yan Diomande domino. Romano noted that PSG’s interest in the RB Leipzig midfielder could free Barcola to leave, but if PSG redirect their budget, a sale becomes considerably less likely.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal face the broader challenge of convincing players that Premier League football is worth taking over a second consecutive Champions League medal with the French champions.
For Liverpool specifically, the Barcola question is tied to their ongoing planning around Mohamed Salah’s eventual succession, with the Egyptian forward heading into the final stretch of his Anfield career.
Arsenal’s position is more about depth and versatility, adding a wide attacker who can cover multiple positions rather than replacing a specific figure in Arteta’s current structure.
Whether PSG elect to cash in or hold becomes the decisive factor here. Their financial profile does not demand a sale and their willingness to negotiate will depend entirely on whether they find a replacement they value more.
