Scottie Scheffler is sporting a head-turning pop of color at this week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink thanks to a pair of limited-edition Nike golf shoes.
Scheffler’s Nike Victory Pro 4 PGA Championship NRG spiked golf shoes have a flashy “Hot Lava” stripe on the sole that makes these shoes stand out from the crowd.
Other fun PGA Championship-centric details include Wanamaker Trophy imagery on the tongue and sockliner, and a pointed reference to five-time PGA Championship winner Walter Hagen, who famously lost the Wanamaker after his 1926 win (his third) by accidentally leaving it in the back of a taxi. Five years and two more PGA Championship victories later, Hagen mysteriously found the trophy by chance when he was sorting through some belongings.
The original Wanamaker is now safely housed at the PGA of America’s HQ in Frisco, Texas. The winner of each PGA Championship is given a replica.
In homage to this bit of history, and to honor the 100-year anniversary of the trophy gone missing, Nike’s PGA Championship shoes have “LOST” emblazoned on the left sole of the shoe, and “FOUND” on the right, as a reminder that greatness is never truly lost.
The sockliner on the left shoe also features an graphic design of the trophy in the back of a taxi, while the right side is of the trophy alone.
