Aston Villa right-back Andrés García has attracted the interest of several clubs in the summer transfer window, with a number of La Liga teams among the potential suitors, according to reporting by BirminghamLive.
Valencia, Sevilla and Real Betis are reportedly keen on his services, while unnamed clubs in Germany and Italy are apparently monitoring his status.
“Reports coming out of Spain claim that Valencia have already spoken to Villa about signing Garcia, while Sevilla and Betis are also interested,” writes Villa correspondent John Townley.
The 22-year-old full-back signed for the Villa as recently as January as a back-up for Polish international Matty Cash. But with his playing time limited, a loan back to Spain could be a useful opportunity for all parties.
Nevertheless, Villa made use of García early in their pre-season programme and are yet to sign a new right-back in the transfer window. Their reported interest in Denzel Dumfries has cooled and García could well be required by Unai Emery in 2025/26.
García was signed for an undisclosed fee from Levante. With Cash sidelined by a muscle injury, Villa were in need of an understudy and García quickly got his chance. He played seven times in the Premier League last season and in ten matches in all competitions.
The Spaniard performed well but Cash regained his spot and retained it to the end of the season. Both have featured in friendlies this summer along with Lamare Bogarde and Triston Rowe.
The Valencia-born right-back made his breakthrough for Levante in January 2023 after spending a year playing for the club’s B team. In his first full season in 2023/24, he made 24 appearances in a team that finished in mid-table in Spain’s second tier.
In the following season, Garcia was even able to make a better direct contribution. He netted three times and set up another three in 23 games. At the time of his departure, Levante was in a higher position.
García helped Levante to a better position in the following season, playing 23 times before his departure to Villa with his team in sixth place. Levante eventually climbed the table even further and ended 2024/25 as Segunda champions and secured their return to La Liga.
