Soon to be Manchester United’s new boss, Ruben Amorin ended his chapter at Sporting CP in the best possible fashion after taking down Manchester City 4-1 on Tuesday. That match marked Amorin’s final game as Sporting’s head coach as he will officially move to Man United on November 11.
The UCL clash between City and Sporting on Tuesday looked like the start of a fairy tale, especially for the Portuguese tactician who is set to start his new adventure in the Premier League. Amorim was set to battle against the arch-rival of his new club, Man City, that have been dominating the league since Pep Guardiola took over.
Despite a difficult first 45 minutes, it looks like Amorim is giving massive hope to Man United fans as Sporting ended the match with a 4-1 victory with a hat-trick from Viktor Gyokeres and another goal from Maximiliano Araujo, while City only got one reply from Phil Foden.
Although the Portuguese coach’s success with Sporting might not immediately translate to his new team, some Man U fans are starting to believe that they might finally get the right man as their manager.
Meanwhile, after the game, Amorim is happy that he can see out his final game with Sporting in the best possible fashion. Moreover, speaking to the media, he also added his excitement to start a new adventure in the Premier League.
The tactician admits that he will be facing a different challenge with more pressure at Man United, but he is ready and keen on experiencing it. “When I arrive to the Premier League, it is a different world, different pressure”. “It will be fun, very fun, and I’m ready for the challenge,” Amorim said (via Fabrizio Romano).
