Aston Villa are set to face off Manchester United on Sunday afternoon in Old Trafford.
Aston Villa and Manchester United have been all over the news in the past few days with their contrast headlines plus the legal action threat. Villa have been praised with Emery’s success in rebuilding his team fairly quickly after losing plenty of their spine players last summer.
United, on the contrary, have been mocked for their winless run and Michael Carrick’s reaction after the humiliating defeat in Como, Lisandro Martinez’s public criticism, and hapless form before their unlikely classic comeback win in the midweek fixture against AS Roma in the Champions League.
When the Red Devils are looking for Carrick’s replacement, Emery is surely included. Then, in came Jamie Carragher’s opinion on the Spaniard’s probable consideration to the future offer plus rather condescending snub on The Lions, which led to legal action threat from Villa owners. Fortunately, it was already over as they withdrew the plan to sue the former Liverpool star.
Now, after all those off-the-pitch issues, they both would be locking horns on the pitch to prove who is better than the other. Villa needs to get back on their winning ways after being winless in the past two games versus Fulham and Barcelona. Meanwhile, Carrick’s men are looking to end their long winless run in the league and climb up to safety in the standings. It would also be one of the decisive games for the former midfielder’s future in the dugout.
With the stakes high, especially for the latter side, John McGinn and Co need to be aware of their opposition potential. Villa have been rather inferior against United, if we look at their last six meetings. The Red Devils won four times and only lost once, last season in Villa Park.
The clash between Aston Villa and Manchester United will be available on Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Ultra HD, Sky Go Extra, and Sky Go UK on TV as well as live streaming. The fans can also enjoy this game on NOW TV.
