Aston Villa are set to their next away game in the Premier League this weekend by taking on Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon at 5.30 pm.
Aston Villa aim to continue their positive trend this weekend. After two home games, they are now set to heading to the north to face off Newcastle United. The Magpies have picked up mixed results in this campaign under Matthias Jaissle. They were shockingly beaten 4-1 by the newly promoted side, Coventry.
The Lions, on the contrary, display more and more convincing performance as the team starts to gel with the new signings’ fine adaptation underway. Unai Emery’s side is tipped as the favorite here, especially considering their better form while playing on the road this season. They have snatched three victories out of four away games in the 2026/27 campaign.
On the head-to-head records, Villa have only managed to snatch two wins plus one draw in the last six meetings. They were thumped by Eddie Howe’s men in FA Cup, while previously, Villa won 2-0 on the road and shared spoils in a goalless stalemate at home in the Premier League opener last season.
The Clarets and Blue still have a number of players on the sideline due to their injuries. Ian Maatsen, Matteo Ruggeri, Brian Madjo, George Hemmings,Modou Cisse, and Amadou Onana will still be ruled out. Luckily, they now have Leon Goretzka who has just made his debut as Villan in the last outing versus Fenerbahce.
Thus, their starting XI would not change much. Zion Suzuki is still between the sticks. At the backline, Pau Torres and Victor Lindelof will be in the centre. Wan Bissaka and Matty Cash will be on both flanks. In the midfield, Kamara and Joao Gomes are likely to be selected as the double pivot. Yet, Emery could opt to field Goretzka instead as a starter or later in the second half. They would be supporting Johan Manzambi, John McGinn and Emi Beundia. Alternatively, the Spanish boss could play Ibrahim Mbaye or Alysson Edward in the second half. As for the upfront, Nicolas Jackson will still be the main forward.
The duel between the Magpies and The Lions will be available on Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Ultra HD, Sky Go Extra, and Sky Go UK on TV as well as live streaming. The fans can also enjoy this game on NOW TV.
