Sunday at Yokohama Country Club began with a packed leaderboard and a world of possibilities. It ended with Michael Brennan holding off Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell to win the Baycurrent Classic, his third PGA Tour title in 12 months.
“Unbelievable. It was an unbelievable week. Japan was spectacular, the fans were amazing this week,” Brennan said after his win.
Mitchell, who is still searching for his first win since the 2019 Honda Classic, took the lead on the front nine with three birdies and an eagle. But he dropped shots at Nos. 9 and 12, leaving him one shot behind Brennan coming down the stretch. Mitchell striped his tee shot on 18 and left himself a 10-foot birdie putt to tie Brennan at 16 under, but he couldn’t get it to fall.
“I felt like every part of my game held up except a couple putts here and there,” Mitchell said after his T2 finish. “Probably hit the best two shots in my life, that’s stuff to say, but the tee shot on 18 and the 7-iron on 18 were as good as I got. Unfortunately, the putt wasn’t as good as I got. So if I can give it the same as the long shots, maybe we’re having a different conversation.”
Bridgeman, who won the Biltmore Championship last month, also had a chance to catch Brennan, but he missed a 5-foot birdie putt on 17 and finished T2 with Mitchell.
“Was able to make some putts at important times that I needed; that one on 17 is going to sting a little bit,” Bridgeman said.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele shot a final-round 4-under 67 to finish T4 with Brian Harman, Jordan Smith, Ryan Gerard and Stephan Jaeger.
“I definitely played good enough golf to win this tournament,” Schauffele said.
With the win, Brennan took home a $1.44 million winner’s check and set his sights on earning a spot on the 2027 Ryder Cup team. Here’s how much money every player made at the 2026 Baycurrent Classic.
