Richarlison Rejects Vasco Da Gama Contract Proposal Despite €20m Tottenham Agreement

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has seen another potential summer exit collapse after refusing to accept Vasco da Gama’s proposed contract terms.

Vasco had reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Tottenham over a transfer fee of around €20 million for the Brazilian striker.

However, the deal fell apart after Richarlison rejected the conditions attached to the move, leaving both clubs frustrated by the outcome.

Tottenham are keen to offload the 29-year-old, who was notably left out of their Premier League squad by head coach Roberto De Zerbi this season.

Richarlison had expressed a desire to return to Brazil, but was only willing to commit to a short-term contract with Vasco lasting until January 2027.

That arrangement would have allowed him to reassess his options during the winter transfer window and potentially pursue a more attractive move elsewhere.

Vasco, however, wanted Richarlison to sign a longer deal of at least 18 months, believing that level of commitment was necessary given the size of their investment.

Despite being prepared to spend heavily on the transfer fee, the Brazilian club was ultimately unable to convince the player to accept its preferred contract structure.

This latest collapse adds to a growing list of failed exit routes for Richarlison, who previously rejected a return to his former club Everton.

A proposed move to Turkish side Trabzonspor also fell through earlier, leaving Tottenham with few straightforward options for moving him on before any window closes.

His representatives are understood to be exploring possible legal avenues to bring his Tottenham contract to an end, though Spurs have shown no willingness to release him early.

With no deal on the horizon, Richarlison now faces the real prospect of remaining on the sidelines until January, frozen out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad for the opening half of the season.

Saudi Arabian interest could yet offer him a lifeline, with at least one Pro League club reportedly monitoring his situation ahead of the winter window.

For Tottenham, this represents another difficult episode in what has become a frustrating saga around a player they had fully intended to sell this summer.
