What do Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Akshay Bhatia and J.J. Spaun all have in common?

They’re holding on religiously to one of the PGA Tour’s winningest fairway woods that just refuses to die.

It’s no surprise this season that TaylorMade has continued a run of dominance in the fairway wood space, accounting for the 3-wood spot in 22 winners’ bags this season and the second fairway wood spot 17 times out of 38.

But the winningest of them all continues to be the Qi10, which will likely go down as one of the best fairway woods of the modern era, if not all-time.

Most fitters will agree that the 3-wood is the toughest club in the bag to fit, so once players find one they really like, they tend to stick with it. A lot of players really like the Qi10.

When Rory McIlroy won the Masters for the second year in a row in April, that was the Qi10 3-wood’s fifth-straight major victory.

But of course, TaylorMade has the newer Qi35 and Qi4D options that did well this season, as well as multiple mini driver options that picked up victories.

There are also stories within the story of fairway wood usage on the PGA Tour as 12 golfers won this season playing a 7-wood. Players captured five victories with mini drivers this season, but three of those came from Chris Gotterup alone.

With that, here is the list of the winningest fairway wood brands on the PGA Tour this season.

No. 1 TaylorMade (40 winning fairway woods)

TaylorMade was unquestionably dominant in the fairway wood category once again, with more winning 3-woods than any other brand had in total fairway woods. The company started the year with a fairway wood in the bag of each of the first eight tournament winners.

Beyond than the continued popularity of the Qi10, the success of the Qi4D models was impressive. It had five victories for 3-woods, but also seven victories for 7-woods, the most of any model. Scottie Scheffler used the Qi4D 7-wood for two of his three victories.

TaylorMade also had four of the five mini driver wins, counting Chris Gotterup’s three wins with the BRNR Mini and Michael Thorbjornsen bagging one with the R7 Quad Mini.

No. 2 Titleist (14 winning fairway woods)

Titleist has made up a lot of ground in the fairway wood game, especially with Cam Young winning twice with its GT1 3Tour platform. Late in the season, the still-to-be-released prototype GTS 3W has picked up steam, finding its way into the bags of young winners Jackson Koivun and Michael Brennan, as well as Young’s bag for a time.

But Titleist has also filled a big-time hole with the GTS lineup thanks to the addition of the GTS3 7-wood. That club has already won three events in Young, Russell Henley and Brennan’s bags.

No. 3 Ping (8 winning fairway woods)

Ping fairway woods are about as reliable as they come, so it’s no surprise the G440 Max won four events as a 3-wood this season. Steven Fisk also won the ISCO Championship with an older model G430 Max 3-wood. As impressive is that all but one of those wins came from Ping staffers, as Gary Woodland, Wyndham Clark and Fisk all used Ping fairway woods without an agreement.

Of the eight winning clubs, only Fisk’s 430 Max was not the G440 Max model.
