Gonzalez Reveals McKennie’s Bold Prediction Before Juventus Goal

Nico Gonzalez explained that his celebration after scoring for Juventus against Parma was a tribute to Weston McKennie, who had told him before the match that he would come on and score.

Gonzalez entered from the bench in the second half of Juventus’ 2-0 win over Parma at the Allianz Juventus Stadium. He forced a save from Edoardo Corvi, struck the woodwork and then scored from the rebound to break the deadlock.

The Argentina international also contributed to Juventus’ second goal, pressuring Parma into an error before Teun Koopmeiners finished with an angled drive.

McKennie tribute

McKennie was in the stands because of injury when Gonzalez performed the Harry Potter wand twirl associated with his teammate. In his post-match interview with DAZN Italia, Gonzalez said the celebration followed McKennie’s pre-match prediction and also marked his birthday week.

The gesture was a personal dedication to McKennie after Gonzalez’s opening goal helped Juventus secure the victory.

Return to Juventus

Juventus had struggled to create chances during a frustrating first half and faced jeers from the stands before finding the breakthrough after the interval.

Gonzalez spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. Asked about his achievements with Atletico Madrid and Argentina at the World Cup, as well as whether he is underestimated, he said he preferred to leave that judgment to others. He added that he loves playing football and was happy to score, win and wear the Juventus shirt again.
