Scotty Cameron is adding Young’s gamer of choice, the Phantom 9.5R, to the regular Phantom retail lineup.
Since Young added the mallet to his bag in April 2025, he’s picked up his first three PGA Tour victories, including the Players Championship in March. Other pros have started to take notice, with several adding the head shape to the bag this season, including Justin Thomas and recent PGA Tour winner Jackson Koivun.

If you think the Phantom 9.5 coming to retail sounds familiar, you’re not mistaken. The original Phantom 9.5 shape was part of the 2024 Phantom lineup.
For the 2026 lineup, Cameron replaced the 9 model with the evolved 9R shape, which features softer, more rounded contours and edges than the original shape. The 9R (single-bend) and 9.2R (plumber’s neck), were available at launch, but Young’s success and other pros adding the putter has led Cameron to add the 9.5 to the line.
Last spring, Young worked with Scotty Cameron Tour rep Brad Cloke on the putter, eventually gaming it for the first time at the 2025 RBC Heritage. Young was one of the first players to adopt the rounded 9R shape over the original.
“He’s always wanted to feel flow in the putter,” Cloke said at the time. “We’ve started in face-balanced mallets for him and we’ve kind of worked our way down to a point where he’s felt comfortable enough to feel the toe flow the way he wants it and get the release of the putter that he wants.”
Young said the additional face rotation created by the “.5” Jet neck helped him give him better awareness of the center of the face.
The full-length alignment aid of the 9.5R is also key for Young as he matches it to the black line he makes on his golf ball. Previously, he was using a Phantom 5.5 with no sightline.
“It’s just a really, really nice clean look,” Young said.
Young is hardly the only pro to move into the 9.5R. At times this year, it felt like the Phantom 9.5R was the hottest putter on Tour, with new players putting it in the bag each week.
One such switch was Thomas, who left his Phantom 5.5 gamer for the 9.5R at the Truist Championship in May. In fact, Thomas’ new putter was essentially a copy of Young’s gamer.
“Obviously, with the success that Cam is having … they see success and they want to see what it’s all about,” Cloke told GOLF at the time.
In addition to Thomas, Koivun won with the Phantom 9.5R this summer at the 3M Open for his debut professional victory. It only took Koivun two starts to earn that maiden win after working with Scotty Cameron rep Drew Page on the new putter.
Keith Mitchell also added a Phantom 9.5R to his bag recently in Memphis at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Like the rest of the Phantom 2026 lineup (with the exception of the Phantom 12), the new 9.5R features the same Studio Carbon Steel insert with Chain-link milling that produces a player-preferred softer sound and feel.
Scotty Cameron’s new Phantom 9.5R putter is available for pre-order starting Aug. 25 and will arrive at retail locations on Sept 30.
The new model is available in right-hand only and costs $549.
