Juventus have opened discussions with Joshua Zirkzee’s representatives over a possible summer transfer, but a deal with Manchester United remains complicated by a disagreement over how the move would be structured. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turin club have contacted the 25-year-old’s camp as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the new Serie A season. Their renewed interest comes with negotiations for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani continuing to stall, prompting Juventus to consider alternative targets. United rejected loan proposals for Zirkzee during the January transfer window and made their preference clear: either a permanent sale or a loan containing a mandatory purchase clause.
The club could now be willing to consider a wider range of arrangements, but only if there is a clear commitment that Zirkzee will eventually leave permanently for a fee close to United’s €35-40 million valuation. A straightforward loan would offer little benefit to a club already attempting to reshape its squad. Juventus, meanwhile, have less financial flexibility. Much of their summer budget has been allocated towards strengthening the defence, making an immediate permanent investment in Zirkzee more difficult. That leaves the two clubs with fundamentally different priorities. United want financial certainty, while Juventus would prefer an arrangement that gives them greater room to manoeuvre.
New Juventus sporting director Ricky Massara is reportedly particularly keen on the Dutchman. He attempted to take Zirkzee to Roma during his time at the Italian club and has continued to rate the former Bologna striker highly. Former Juventus executive Cristiano Giuntoli had also monitored Zirkzee before leaving Turin. The player’s wages are not expected to prevent a deal. Zirkzee earns around €4 million per year and is believed to be eager for a move that would give him more regular football.
Manchester United have reportedly developed concrete interest in Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with Belgian journalist Tomas Taecke claiming that the club’s admiration for the 21-year-old Germany Under-21 international is growing. AS Roma are also pursuing Tresoldi and have already tested Brugge’s resolve with a €35 million offer, but the Belgian club rejected the proposal and insisted that their striker is not available this summer. That stance has not discouraged United. Instead, Roma’s rejected bid may have given the Premier League club a clearer indication of the financial level required to open serious negotiations.
Tresoldi only joined Brugge from Hannover 96 last summer but immediately made an impact in Belgium. He scored 23 goals and registered seven assists in 58 appearances during his first campaign with the club. The striker came through Hannover’s academy and made 80 senior appearances for the German side before moving abroad, scoring 14 times during that spell. Brugge’s position remains firm: Tresoldi is not for sale. However, their resolve could be tested if United decide to make a substantial offer after Roma’s €35 million approach was rejected.
United are understood to be monitoring the German closely, with the club believing he could make an immediate contribution at Old Trafford while possessing the potential to develop into a dependable goalscorer over the longer term. There is also evidence that Brugge are prepared to sell their leading assets for the right price. They have already sanctioned Christos Tzolis’ move to Arsenal for €40 million this summer.
