EA Sports FC 27 has revealed its MLS player ratings, and European pedigree is clearly a major factor in how the game-makers have assessed the league’s talent.
Lionel Messi leads all MLS players with an overall rating of 89, continuing his status as the standout name in American soccer.
However, two high-profile summer arrivals have joined him near the top of the rankings, both carrying enormous reputations built during their time at FC Barcelona.
Robert Lewandowski, the Polish forward who signed with the Chicago Fire this summer, has been given an 84 overall rating in the new game.
Antoine Griezmann, who joined Orlando City on a free transfer after departing Atletico Madrid, also comes in at 84 overall, level with Lewandowski.
Both players, like Messi, share a connection to FC Barcelona, and their ratings reflect the respect EA Sports has for their decorated careers in European football.
The recognition for elite European experience continues further down the list, with Inter Miami’s summer signing Casemiro rated at 83 overall following his move from Manchester United.
The Brazilian midfielder spent a decade at Real Madrid before his time in England, and he now links up with Messi at Inter Miami after completing his move this summer.
Rodrigo De Paul, another Inter Miami player who joined the club following Messi’s arrival in the United States, also holds an 83 overall rating in EA FC 27.
LAFC star Son Heung-min, who arrived last summer, is rated 81 overall, while Vancouver Whitecaps forward Thomas Muller carries an 80 overall in the game.
The highest-rated American player in MLS is Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan, who stands as the only United States player featured in the top 27 rated MLS players.
Roldan’s inclusion highlights the continued development of domestic talent within MLS, even as the league continues to attract major international names to its rosters.
