Aston Villa ready to swoop two targets following their star’s exit

Aston Villa have prepared to make swift approach to sign two targets after their star’s move was confirmed.

Aston Villa is really going through a turbulent summer. They have lost their key men with the departure of Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Lucas Digne. Then recently another star, Ezri Konsa, is heading to the exit as his suitor has agreed to sign him with the transfer fee £50 million.

Thus, Villa have to make a quick move for his replacement once Konsa’s move is sealed as the Premier League already kicks off this weekend. They finally set their sights on not just one but two targets, as reported by TalkSport. Interestingly, both have Chelsea connection in their career.

“Aston Villa have placed defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Fikayo Tomori on their list of transfer targets.”

Another Chelsea man on target

Villa seem to be keen on snatching Chelsea men. They could only do so once Konsa’s sale is confirmed following their loan deal on Alejandro Garnacho after selling Morgan Rogers to The Blues.

Previously, Unai Emery’s men were linked to Axl Disasi and Benoit Badiashile. Now, they are aiming for Tosin Adarabioyo. The former Fulham man is seen as the fine Konsa replacement. Yet, he could be struggling to seal his spot in the starting XI. His shirt number has been changed for the new player hinting his doubtful future in Stamford Bridge.

Last season, Tosin only featured 16 times in the Premier League. His campaign was hampered with injuries from hamstring injury and calf problems. Overall, he has registered seven goals and one assist in 70 appearances in all competitions.

The defender who joined The Blues in 2024 still has two years remaining in his contract. His price tag could be around £30 million. Villa’s potential contenders are Benfica and Marseille.

The Former Chelsea man abroad

Another name on target is the product of Chelsea academy, Fikayo Tomori who has been playing abroad with AC Milan since 2020. He has been a regular starter in San Siro but has only one year left in his contract. His asking price would be around £17 million. Villa would be in a tussle with Newcastle United, Juventus and Coventry City. The Lions surely have the advantage with Champions League on their side compared to their contenders.

The 28-year old defender can operate as right back too beside the centre back, just like Konsa. He helped Milan win Serie A in 2022. Last season, he made 33 appearances with two assists in the league alone. Overall, he has played in 214 games with seven goals and six assists.

Considering the price tag for both players, Villa should at least focus on snatching Tomori first, either on loan or permanently before Adarabioyo. Signing Tosin can only be done once Konsa’s move is completed, or Villa could use the fund for signing more versatile profile who could be operating as midfielder as well or other players on the attacking side.
