Aston Villa have been reportedly monitoring several talents and their own loanee in Portugal lately.
Aston Villa have collaborated with Portuguese side, Vitoria Guimaraes on their sporting and brand development recently following their representatives’ meeting earlier this summer. In the former, Villa have materialized it by loaning one of their young players and selling another one to Vitoria.
Based on the report in O Jogo via Sport Witness, Villa representatives do not take long to begin their monitoring directly as well as spotting raw talents in the Portuguese market at Estadio D Afonso Henriques.
“Villa had two representatives in the stands for Vitória’s opening league match against Arouca on Saturday. The home side lost 1-0, with Iván Barbero scoring the game’s only goal.”
Vitoria’s opener might not end as expected in front of their big investor. However, a few of their players did manage to steal the spotlight. They are two youngsters who got a nod in the starting XI, the winger Oumar Camara and the defensive midfielder Goncalo Nogueira. They could be potential targets for Unai Emery‘s side in the long run.
The 19-year-old Camara was quite in form. In the opener, he made six crosses with one accurate cross, three shots with one key pass, one long ball, one tackle and one interception. He was deployed as the left winger.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Nogueira was pretty impressive as a double pivot. He made one tackle, one through ball, three key passes, one shot and won an aerial duel once.
Both also featured in the second game against the reigning champion, Sporting Lisbon on the road last weekend. Vitoria still could not pick up a point despite their attempt to bounce back. They only managed to score twice after conceding three goals first.
Villa appeared to observe the players from the opposition side and two names caught their attention. They are midfielder Taichi Fukui, 22, and the 26-year-old winger Naïs Djouahra. They could be considered on the list of Villa’s transfer plans in the future, should they play consistently well.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa loanee Oliwier Zych did not do well enough to impress his parent club. At the opener, he only made one save, 18 passes and five long balls with four of them were accurate ones.
In the next game versus Sporting, the Polish youngster could not make a single save, but he did make two clearances. Zych’s long balls improved too with 10 long balls and five of them were accurate.
Unfortunately, the other former Villa man who moved permanently, Yeimar Mosquera, has yet to make his official debut. The Colombia youngster could not get a clearance to play due to the incomplete documents to register. One of the vital documents not yet included by the club was his criminal record certificate. It would be interesting to see how they perform in the next games.
