The Houston Dynamo defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Saturday night, with Guilherme Santos scoring from the penalty spot in the first half.
Jonathan Bond kept another clean sheet, extending his personal scoreless streak to an impressive 372 minutes without conceding a goal.
The English goalkeeper did not need to make a single save to record his fourth consecutive shutout and seventh of the season.
Bond’s seven clean sheets this season already match his total from last year, which was his first campaign with the Dynamo.
Notably, Bond had only managed four clean sheets across 89 starts with the Los Angeles Galaxy between 2021 and 2023, making his current form all the more remarkable.
Santos broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after Galaxy defender John Nelson fouled Lawrence Ennali inside the penalty area, gifting Houston the chance from the spot.
The Brazilian forward converted coolly to register his 12th goal of the season, a tally that underlines his importance to the Dynamo’s attacking play.
Houston improved their unbeaten run to seven matches at 5-0-2, and their overall record now stands at 11-6-2 on the season.
The Dynamo have posted a stunning 9-2-2 record across their last 13 matches, firmly establishing themselves as the hottest team in the Western Conference.
The Galaxy’s task became significantly harder when substitute defender Emiro Garces, who had replaced Maya Yoshida at the start of the second half, was shown a red card in the 58th minute.
Playing with ten men for over half an hour, the Galaxy could not find a way back into the match against a well-organised Houston defence.
JT Marcinkowski was credited with one save for Los Angeles, who now sit at 5-8-7 on the season and have taken just two wins from their last five outings at 0-3-2.
