The 2026 Leagues Cup quarterfinal field is fully set, with eight clubs advancing from Phase One to compete for a place in the semifinals.

Four MLS sides will face four Liga MX clubs across three days of action, with matches scheduled from August 25 through August 27.

The quarterfinal draw produced the following matchups: Chicago Fire vs CF Monterrey, Austin FC vs Toluca FC, Club León vs Real Salt Lake, and Club América vs Columbus Crew.

One of the more unusual storylines heading into the knockouts involves Real Salt Lake being forced to play away from their home ground in Sandy, Utah.

Folk-pop artist Noah Kahan has a concert booked at America First Field on August 25, the exact same night Real Salt Lake are scheduled to play their quarterfinal fixture.

As a direct result of the scheduling conflict, Chicago Fire become the only MLS side able to host their Leagues Cup quarterfinal at their usual home venue.

The Fire enter the quarterfinals in strong form, having taken all nine points available during Phase One, including a dramatic stoppage-time victory over Cruz Azul.

The match carries an added subplot, as striker Hugo Cuypers returns to face his former club after being transferred from Chicago to Monterrey following Robert Lewandowski’s arrival at the Fire.

Austin FC will face a stern examination against Toluca FC, who claimed the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup title, though Myrto Uzuni’s recent hot streak provides the Texas club with genuine optimism heading into the tie.

Club América and Columbus Crew renew a rivalry with recent history, having met in the 2024 Campeones Cup, which Las Águilas won on penalties, while Columbus chase a second Leagues Cup title in three years after winning the tournament in 2024.

Brais Méndez leads Columbus Crew’s charge, with the Crew also set to face ex-LAFC star Brian Rodríguez on the other side of the matchup.

Real Salt Lake’s path to the quarterfinals was not straightforward, as they absorbed an early setback in a penalty-kick shootout defeat to Tigres UANL before recovering impressively.

The Claret-and-Cobalt bounced back with dominant victories over Atlante and Juárez, scoring seven goals from multiple contributors while keeping a clean sheet in both matches.

RSL ultimately secured the final MLS quarterfinal spot by edging past LAFC on the regulation-wins tiebreaker, a fine turnaround from their difficult tournament opener.

The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinals on September 1 and 2, with the third-place match and final both scheduled for September 6.

Beyond the trophy itself, clubs are also competing for places in the Concacaf Champions Cup, with the Leagues Cup champion, runner-up, and third-place finisher all earning qualification for that competition.
