Arsenal have shut down any speculation surrounding Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future, with the club firmly committed to keeping the teenage star for the long term.

The 18-year-old has been valued at around £50 million, a figure that reflects just how highly regarded he has become at the Emirates Stadium following his breakthrough campaign.

Lewis-Skelly emerged as one of the most exciting young players in English football during the 2024/25 season, making 39 appearances in all competitions under Mikel Arteta.

Originally a central midfielder in Arsenal’s Hale End academy, Lewis-Skelly has excelled at left-back, with the freedom to step into midfield phases of play.

He made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Manchester City in September, and has not looked back since establishing himself as a first-team regular.

Lewis-Skelly received two red cards during the league season, though his sending-off against Wolves was successfully overturned on appeal, clearing his record from that particular match.

Just eight days later, he scored his first league goal in a stunning 5-1 victory against Manchester City, before mimicking Erling Haaland’s iconic meditation celebration in front of the crowd.

His form earned him a senior England call-up, and he made history by becoming the youngest player ever to score on a senior England debut, surpassing the record previously held by Marcus Rashford.

Aged 18 years and 176 days when he netted against Albania, Lewis-Skelly also became the second-youngest Arsenal player to represent England’s senior side, following in the footsteps of Theo Walcott.

Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano moved swiftly to dismiss links connecting Lewis-Skelly with Chelsea, telling fans of the west London club to simply “forget” about any potential deal.

Romano made clear that Arsenal view Lewis-Skelly as a long-term project and have absolutely no intention of allowing him to leave, even on a temporary loan basis.

The interest from clubs including Manchester United only underlines how rapidly Lewis-Skelly has developed into one of the most coveted young players in the Premier League.

Arsenal are expected to tie him down to a new long-term deal reported to run for five years, replacing the previous contract that had been due to expire in 2026.
