Two clubs have been pondering to sign Aston Villa forward this summer following the end of the pre-season in Asia.
Aston Villa have just completed their pre-season games in Hong Kong for their Asian Tour. Some players stole the spotlight and impressed the fans but some others seem to have their form below par. One of them is Evann Guessand.
The Ivorian international has featured in several games during the pre-season, including the last one against Bayern. Yet, his form was quite disappointing in that game. He squandered and missed the chance to score and could not offer much to break the deadlock.
Nevertheless, two teams are still interested in signing him. One of them was Crystal Palace, where he went on loan in the second half of 2025/26 season, as reported in the Athletic.

Guessand arrived in Villa Park last summer with a transfer fee up to £30 million from OGC Nice. He was playing quite regularly in the first half of the season but his contribution was fairly minimum for a winger. Netting twice in 21 games surely could not convince Emery to keep him in the squad. So he was loaned out to Crystal Palace in January 2026.
The Eagles had option to activate his permanent move as he managed to play 14 times, scoring twice and providing one assist. Yet, Oliver Glasner’s side opted to pass up the chance to sign him for £28 million, mainly due to the Austrian boss’s decision to leave Selhurst Park after delivering Palace’s first continental title last season, UEFA Conference League.
With the managerial changes, Guessand returned to Villa Park, hoping to revive his form and seal his place in the first team squad and ultimately, the starting XI. The Lions do plan to reintegrate him back to the team. However, the latest development seems to leave him out of Emery’s plan. His form during the pre-season has just not been considered satisfactory to be in the squad. No wonder they are now listening to any offers.
The return to Selhurst Park is back in the picture as their new boss, Pierre Sage, is considering signing him on loan again. The former Lyon and Lens boss hopes he could help Guessand’s revival.
Apparently, Crystal Palace is not the only one who is keen on signing him. AS Roma appears to gain the same interest in the winger. Gian Gasperini considers his versatility useful for the squad as they are competing in the Champions League too.
However, Giallorossi do not see him as the main target but as their backup one instead. Their main ones are still Norwegian winger Antonio Nusa and Morrocco international, Ez Abde. Should they fail to secure their move, which appears to be so, Roma is ready to snatch Guessand this summer on a loan spell.
